A wasted trip

I made a wasted trip to Vivo Daiso. Half an hour's journey by bus and when I got there, after meeting a friend, we went up to Daiso and discovered it was closed. I mean not delayed opening but totally closed for stocktaking! Argh!!!

We decided to take the train over to Plaza Singapura where they have a smaller outlet. My time in the morning is very limited as shops usually open at 10am and I have to be home by 12pm to meet the school bus. So we only had time to go to one shop. I try not to drag princess out after school, whenever I can, unless it's those days when I clean the house in the morning.

Some new finds at Daiso - silicon jelly moulds in various shapes. Very cute.

Hubby didn't go in to work today, as he's been down with a bad throat, cough etc, for maybe a week now. But also the fact that he stayed up to watch the match this morning and he didn't have enough rest.

I picked up some sandwiches from this shop in PS called Bratwurst Shop or something (I'm really not good with details). They are quite popular for their sausages, large german ones. It's the first time I'm trying out their food and the sandwiches were really nice. Hubby had the Chicken Avocado and I had the Smoked Salmon. I found the salmon a little on the salty side. My mouth is still experiencing the salty feeling even though I had it some 5hrs ago. I ordered the Bratwurst Wrap for little girl. I chose the cheese sausage with tomato, lettuce and cheese in a tortilla wrap. She enjoyed it very much especially the sausage but it is a huge portion so she couldn't eat all of it.

For a treat, I got princess a piece of strawberry shortcake. I promised her a nice piece of cake for today as she was being grouchy last evening going to bed and giving daddy a hard time. Told her if she be good and go to sleep straightaway, I'd reward her. So made sure whatever I did, I didn't forget to buy one. Haha. Couldn't resist the little longan one. So pretty with the ribbon. She was complaining that her cake didn't come with one. Hehe. I found them at this bakery called Rive in the basement of PS. It is owned by the Pokka group.

On the way out of the building, I walked past Breadtalk. The little mooncakes selling for $1-3 caught my eye. Couldn't resist them. They are super tiny though, just 2 bites and they're gone. Have not tried them yet so can't comment on taste. Got 3 flavours - orange, chocolate and cappuccino. This year they went with the planets so we have Earth, Venus and Mercury. I know, I know, the fish teapot is not Chinese but I just wanted a pic of it. Was a gift from a cousin in Sydney many years ago.

Hi there! I thought I'd drop by your blog to say thanks for visiting mine. :)

You know, I've heard so much about Daiso - the bargain hunter in me is itching to go there. I really must pay the chainstore a visit the next time we are in Singapore.

Hi there gals, thanks for visiting.

mama bliss - Of course I don't mind. Come often. Ah yes... I love to collect scrapbooking stuff but I am super lazy. My girl is 5 and I have not started a single scrapbook. Hahaha. I just like collecting, erm, maybe, one day, I might just do it, erm, maybe when my girl has gotten married and left the home? hahahaha.

dutchess - Hey there, ah, you're welcome. I enjoyed my visit to you. Very interesting blog. Will visit more often. I followed you there from east meets west's blog. :) Yes, you MUST go Daiso next time you're back. And have to go to the biggest one at IMM. No regrets. It's huge. You'll spend hrs there so make sure you have plenty of time.

You're the true shopping QUEEN la! Only you can find the cutest stuff at Daiso... I can't seem to get out of the "work mode" so I seem to be looking at the wrong stuff. We MUST go this Friday ok? and make sure you are firm with me coz I tend to be too focus and not scrutinise all the cute stuff you seem to be able to find.

Can't wait... hehehe

I am a regualar @ PS & Vivo. Cuz of the NorthEast line :)
Now with so many food outlets..really spoilt for choice.
I simply love RIVE. Their ALmond Tart is really good. Used to patronise their Taka branch alot.

1Q....why do U need to get out of the hse after a morning cleaning? *KPO mode*

daphne - On wow, join the club. Haha. We never have enough time there at IMM Daiso. Ah, when you come back you can visit PS for the cake n wrappo. ;) Ya, PS one is very small, Vivo is bigger but IMM is the BEST!

paw paw - I like going PS because of Carrefour, Daiso, Spotlight, and Ichiban Sushi. One day we should meet up huh? Haha. Your NE line can take you to Vivo too. ;) Ok, next time will try the almond tart. It's 1st time trying their cakes so only got the pretty one, didn't know which was good. Actually the strawberry shortcake at Four Leaves is better, the sponge is softer and smoother. Oh, no, I don't have to go out after day of cleaning, but just sometimes I need to, to get groceries etc, esp since the wet market doesn't open Mondays.

i agree with karen... i just came back from daiso plaza and didn't see the moulds... i will only be able to find after seeing it from you ha ha... maybe coz always have baby with me so no time to really look excuses excuses!

paw paw - Oh great! And you're right, you can find almost anything there. Yes, we'll try arrange something at the end of the year.

peony - Yes, I know it's your kind of stuff. With Daiso it's hard to go back and think about it, because the stuff being so cheap, it's usually snapped up. But these are new, not seen them.

trevshanhann - Hahaha, because you look at different things from me. Ah yes, why not, blame the baby. ;)

I just wish we have Daiso here. I just bought the similar jelly mould like yours and ordered from Ebay. Received my parcel yesterday but yet to open. The 100 yen shop here didnt sell this and its hard to find here.

SIG said...

sue sue - Oh wow, is it expensive on ebay? Don't you have someone here who can buy for you and mail over? It'd be so much cheaper. You have the 100 yen shop there? Like the one is Japan??

Sue Sue said...

In ebay they are selling at USD2.89 plus shipping cost is about USD2.00. No la, I can't get anyone there to buy for me provided if I go Singapore myself during Christmas.

Yup the 100 yen shop something similar to the one in Japan but they sell less thing here.

Wow, here at Daiso you only pay S$2. They usually bring in loads of stuff for Christmas time. Christmas decor etc. Interesting.
