It was a girls' day out for us yesterday. KY, who incidentally is Princess' godma & a great friend of mine, so kindly offered to take me out to lunch. We enjoyed lovely dim sum at Crystal Jade and what made it lovelier was the company. Sorry that she had to abandon her boys to spend time with us, especially the one with the puppydog eyes who pleaded with her to leave the house only after he left for school. And sneaky ol' her had arranged for some cupcakes for us. Thank God that the candles could not enter the hard crust of the cupcake topping or I'd have stares my way. Phew! I'm not one for attention and especially not being the centre of it. Thanks KY. Love you loads. :*
Earlier in the morning, I awoke all prepped up to try out a recipe I saw in a mag last week. It was supposed to be some warm chocolate thingy. Sorry I don't have the time to post the recipe. However, I didn't think it was a great recipe. I found the mixture a bit too thick, thus resulting in not too soft cakes. But on the other hand, there was plenty of chopped chocs and cocoa to make up for that. Every mouthful was filled with choc and it was oh so rich. Also, my cuppies turned out nothing like the one in the mag. Hehe.
While I was busy in the kitchen, little dear had a sudden inspiration to make me a card. She had seen the rosette from the Mother's Day flower which she n daddy had gotten me on Sunday. I was warned not to go in to the room as she was making a surprise. And wow, within mins, a card was produced. :) What a sweetie! I loved it. We showed it to hubs in the evening and he said that he wanted one for his birthday too. But he'd have to wait till next year. :P
Following our luncheon, I had meant to go do my hair, rebonding, etc. But changed my mind in the end. Both princess and I ended up at the nail salon. It was a real treat for her. :)
All in all, it was a very good day. No present from hubby yet, but hey, I get to choose it in Paris. ;)
I'll be super busy the next couple of days preparing for the trip, lots to tidy in the house. Of course I can't leave it looking all messy with stuff lying around, as is the case most days. One minute the house is super neat and the next when little one is home from school, everything comes out again. It'll be terrible to come back to that after a tiring holiday. Will try to update whenever possible. Ciao!
And lastly, I snatched this from dear Easts Meets West Kitchen. :)
