I had this for breakfast today. Yum yum. There's a stall in a nondescript coffee shop near my house, which I think has one of the better chai tow kuays (fried radish cake), according to my taste. I discovered it by accident one time when I had a craving for this breakfast dish and there were no stalls selling it at the main market. Have not looked back since. It has just the right amount of sweetness from the sweet sauce and spiciness from the chilli. It's also soft and tasty.
I have this habit of eating black chai tow kuay for breakfast and white ones for lunch or dinner. It's just a habit from young, I don't know why. Hehe. Does anyone out there share this peculiar habit of mine? ;)
On a happier note, the hubs is able to come home today, as the docs can't seem to find anything wrong with him. Haha. So well, I guess I can finally rest, not going up and down like a yo-yo.

hmm.. it really depends on my mood. I like the dark one in the morning and the lighter one for lunch... but sometimes it reverses.
daphne - Ah I see.
Ah the fragrant chai tow kuay. I love it too. Both taste good. I also love to eat the black sweet ones in the morning for breakfast. Good to hear that your hub's coming home.
ooooohhhh...my favourite. Dark one for me any time of the day. Like the sweetness. Don't like the white one. Was disappointed with the few that i tried when I was there.Gotta try yours!!!
Me I can never decide which one I prefer so I guess that's why I didn't get to eat either on my last trip. So stupid.
I can't say that I have ever had either...so I have no opinion. Sorry. It is an interesting looking dish. Not what I'm used to seeing for breakfast, but I bet it's tasty! Can you describe what it tastes like?
PS - glad to hear hubs is coming home!
inspiredmumof2 - Oh great. Seems like the sweet one is quite a popular breakfast choice. Oh ya, glad for me too. Haha.
beau lotus - Ai! Why couldn't decide? Get both then!
jori - Oh gosh, how do you describe radish cake. Haha. I made it before in a way earlier post. But mine wasn't soft. Well, it's basically made with radish and flour and basic seasoning like salt and pepper and steamed. You then cut them into cubes or strips and fry them with egg, preserved radish, some add shrimps, sweet sauce, minced garlic, chilli etc. I can't describe the texture. It's soft. All I can say is it's yummy. :)
Glad to hear that your hubs is coming home! The chai tow kuay looks yum!!!
shazz - Ah, you don't like white one? Ya, I have mood also sometimes like black n sometimes white. But I'm more inclined towards the sweet one.
wok and spoon - Thanks. Yes, it is yummy.
