Xia Jiang Ji

Choo, I finally tried the recipe. I added some sesame seeds to batter too and it gave it some fragrance. However, I wasn't too keen on the smell when the bottle containing the shrimp paste was first opened. The pungent smell just hits you. If anyone thinks durian is bad, you should try smelling this. :D I was keeping my fingers crossed that it will turn out well as I had already marinated the lot, or else we'd have no dinner. Eeeks! However, upon frying, the flavours just fused together - sugar, sesame oil, etc.. And hubby loved it. Princess had no complaints so she must like it and I think it was lovely too.

I also steamed a piece of cod and stir-fried some vegetables. That was our meal last evening. :)

hk choo - Yes, yes, Been procrastinating even though I've had that sauce since I saw it on your blog. It's nice. And yes, the sesame is lovely with it.

paw paw - You do? What do you cook with it? Spicy is fine but smelly err... no thanks. Haha. What effort? Simple home-cooked meal only.

I wish I could cook that but the Hub would kill me. He can't stand the smell and taste of shrimp paste, such a pity, don't you think so?

Nice meal, you make me feel bad, I've been so lazy lately...

beau lotus - Oh gosh, when I was frying them, I had to msg him to see if he was still in office and had to open all the windows to air the house. Thank goodness he never said anything so the smell must have left the house before he got home. Where lah got put you to shame. I bet you cook every day too. After having been spoilt here without having to cook, now lazy right? I went through a phase a couple of months back where I just didn't want to cook totally too. But now, thank God that's over. Still not crazy about it, but will do.
